MoneyWiz is a personal finance software application, built and designed to handle sensitive data. Through manual entry, import, online banking and cloud sync, all of your financial data is aggregated to this one place for your convenience. This article explains how MoneyWiz keeps your personal information and data secure.
MoneyWiz is designed to save your aggregated financial data on your device (mobile or desktop) locally, so that you can access it, even if you are offline. Protecting your local data (as for any other software application installed on your device) is in your own hands. Consider protecting your device with a passcode as well as using services that allow you to erase the data from your device in case it gets lost or stolen.
As an additional measure, we’ve provided an optional PIN protection (and Touch ID protection, for Touch ID enabled devices), that you can enable to protect only the data inside MoneyWiz. You can also configure it to erase your MoneyWiz data, after the 10th wrong attempt to enter PIN. We suggest you enable this option if the privacy of your financial data is important to you.
You can choose to supply your email to MoneyWiz and be notified for important updates and information related to the application development. You can also register to receive such information via our website (the Newsletter feature). The email that you submit, both via the application or the website, will not be used until you confirm your will to subscribe. If you choose to do so, your information will be kept securely and will not be given to third parties. You will be contacted only with information related to MoneyWiz.
We use the information you provide to us, only if you request help from us, with your permission. We do not share this information with outside parties, under any circumstances.
We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.
We do not use personally identifiable information or financial information, provided to us in any way, without the written consent of the customer and only for identifying and investigating software related issues. Our internal team is prohibited from storing your personal data longer than the necessary time to understand your requests and help you.
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and software procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
MoneyWiz is integrated with the following external systems: SYNCbits, Google Analytics, FreshDesk and SaltEdge.
SYNCbits is a cloud syncing service, developed and supported by SilverWiz (the same company that developed MoneyWiz). SYNCbits is an optional service which MoneyWiz users can use to synchronize their MoneyWiz data between multiple devices.
If you use SYNCbits, your data will be uploaded to the SYNCbits servers and kept there. Your data will continue to be available directly on your device, even when it's offline.
SYNCbits uses 3 layer encryption to encrypt all data stored on the cloud servers. All data is transmitted via a secure encrypted connection (SSL).
Google Analytics, Facebook, LeanPlum
MoneyWiz collects non personally identifiable data through Google Analytics, Facebook and LeanPlum integrations. MoneyWiz uses the information for in-app analytics (Google Analytics), ads attributions (Facebook) and in-app marketing optimization tools (LeanPlum). MoneyWiz uses SaltEdge as one of the providers for the online banking feature.
SaltEdge uses asymmetric cryptography so that private keys are on different servers. SaltEdge is also PCI DSS compliant.
Connecting to your banks
When connecting to your bank via MoneyWiz, MoneyWiz will provide an embedded web interface to SaltEdge. In that interface you have to enter your bank credentials. These credentials are then sent to SaltEdge and the SaltEdge service will establish a connection for your account and return the data to MoneyWiz, for visualization. MoneyWiz never stores your online banking credentials.
Requesting a new bank to be added
When requesting a new bank to be added, you need to specify the name of the bank, its country and the online banking login address. This allows the SaltEdge team to make the integration. If they have further questions or just want to ask you to verify that the integration works, they will contact you directly.
MoneyWiz also uses Yodlee as one of the providers for the online banking feature.
MoneyWiz does not store your online banking credentials at any time.
